A Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator/ Operator is specially trained and has expertise in locating for horizontal/directional drill rigs and product support equipment. This individual will be primarily responsible for setup and completion of drilling variable sized underground bore holes and pulling back required conduit/pipe.

Responsibilities:

  • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
  • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
  • Assist in potholing and remediation
  • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie ins
  • Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates
  • Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine
  • Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions
  • Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions
  • Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage
  • Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
  • Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
  • Follows specifications for the job and company policies
  • Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site
  • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work
 

Prerequisites:

  • Class A CDL License – Preferred
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Basic computer skills, to develop and maintain bore logs
  • ALL employees must pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening (will be subject to random drug screenings)

Job Summary:

The Fiber Splicing Technician is a position working for the Operations Manager of OSP Utility and Construction to support all splicing requirements for Americom and its customer’s. The Fiber Splicer must have the ability to perform fiber optic splicing as well as understand engineering and splicing drawings. This person must possess strong project management skills, knowledge of construction practices for Outside Plant cable placement, and sufficient experience with computers to update drawings and have a background in Fiber Optic splicing documentation practices. The person must have telecommunications experience and the ability to travel as required. In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency within the following responsibilities and competencies.

Primary Duties:

  • Ability to fusion or mechanical splice SM or MM fiber optic cables, to include terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST,SC,LC)
  • Work with engineers and/or OSP PM’s to perform fusion splicing as directed.
  • Be able to execute a mid-span sheath entry and splice
  • Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
  • Develop standards and specifications for splice drawings and prepare drawing per the specifications.
  • Have a certification and experience with a major manufacture of fusion splice machines. (Corning, Fujikura, Fitel)
  • Have a certification experience and knowledge using Fiber Optic Scope and or a Fiber OTDR. (Corning, JDSU, Fluke)
  • Ability to read and interpret OTDR results.
  • Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables (vertical/horizontal).
  • Serve as a resource to the internal staff on matters concerning splicing practices and procedures.
  • Develop splicing diagrams and designs to facilitate network architecture.
  • Provide management with detailed reports of field splicing activity.
  • Maintain fiber asset inventory and splicing records.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Pull and back up a trailer
  • Organize splicing as-built files utilizing software packages for in-house fiber cable inventory and route designs.
  • Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status in order to meet designated goals.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

The minimum physical requirements that you must meet in order to perform splicing duties are as follows:

  • · The ability to climb up and down ladders, scaffoldings, and lifts.
  • · Must be able to lift 80 lbs. from floor and above head
  • · Have general knowledge and ability to identify and use basic hand tools.
  • · Ability to work in ALL weather conditions; this includes extreme temperatures ranging from -30° to +120°.
  • · May, at times, be required to work in trenches, manholes, tunnels, closets, and crawl spaces.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position works directly with the Controller to record financial transactions while maintaining strict accounting controls. The department has a dynamic, casual atmosphere that is conducive to improving the performance of each team member.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confers with Project Cost Accountant to facilitate the recording of costs to projects
  • Understands and coordinates data entry within our accounting system
  • Supports the timely close of department project costs from subcontractors
  • Maintains accounting files and prepares various financial forms
  • Processing of AP vouchers
  • Reconciling of voucher info to purchase orders
  • Ensures correct expense coding & voucher preparation
  • Issuance of payments to suppliers
  • Reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts
  • Assisting with monthly close process
  • Examine and interpret accounting records.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
